Conor McKenna’s dad was tackled by security in the chaos of Brisbane’s premiership celebrations before the Irish forward came to his rescue.
Families weren’t initially allowed onto the field for evening celebrations after the Lions beat Fremantle by seven points to win their third straight AFL grand final at the MCG on Saturday.

The horse trainer was running towards the middle of the ground when he was brought to ground by security before his son Conor realised what was going on and walked over to clear things up.
With the Irish flag draped around himself, Conor talked the security into letting his dad go and allowing him into the fold.
Pat then walked into the group and gave Darcy Wilmot a hug as celebrations continued.
There had been some speculation that Saturday’s decider could be McKenna’s last game for the Lions before heading back home to Ireland, despite having a one-year deal in front of him from Brisbane.
But the 30-year-old, who has just finished a career-best year which included winning Goal of the Year, told Triple M after the game he is keen to go on.
“I’m happy to stay for another few years,” he said.
“I’ll worry about it in the next few weeks, but yeah, I’m happy to stay.”
