Australia’s best mayonnaise has been crowned, with two budget supermarket brands sharing the top honour in a comprehensive taste test.
Consumer group Choice put 29 mayonnaise products through their paces, testing for taste, appearance and smell.

The winners – Aldi’s Colway Real Mayonnaise and Woolworths Whole Egg Mayo tied for first place in the dead heat result.
In a bonus for shoppers, both products are also the cheapest options available at around $2.80 a bottle.
Coming in third place was another Aldi product, Colway Authentic Mayo.
At the other end of the scale, Coles’ 97 per cent Fat Free variety was judged the worst performer.
Judges were not impressed by its “pale” appearance and “gluey” consistency, according to the Choice review.
