A Texas mother has revealed her shock after giving birth to a giant baby boy weighing the same as a bowling ball.
Markie Smith, a 35-year-old single mum from Texas, was gobsmacked when her third child ended up being one of the largest babies ever delivered at Arlington Memorial Hospital.
Ms Smith admits she was ‘relieved’ to deliver baby Canyon by c-section, and says the entire room was shocked when his weight was announced.

“The whole room just was like ‘what?’. He came out like a three-month-old baby”, she said, “He’s the biggest baby I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Baby Canyon tipped the scales at a whopping 5.74kg, around the weight of an average bowling ball.
The average weight for a newborn is between 2.72kg and 3.62kg in the US, making Canyon nearly double the size.

Although Ms Smith said she was expecting a large baby due to the size of her “huge belly”, she was still shocked by his size.
“I was expecting a 10lb baby, but that’s crazy. I don’t even think I’ve ever seen or heard of, except for on the news or like in the Guinness Book of World Records.”
Despite comparing holding Canyon to “holding a bowling ball” or “a bag of bricks”, Ms Smith is smitten with her baby boy.
“He looks like a little sumo wrestler. He’s so cute.”
Canyon is healthy considering his size, though he required additional monitoring in the NICU due to his unusual weight.
Ms Smith said her family is very happy with their giant baby, and want to share it with the world.

It was just three months ago that another baby went viral on social media for his incredible size.
Baby Cassian broke hospital records when he arrived at Nashville’s TriStar Centennial Women’s Hospital in September.
His proud mum, Shelby Martin, set the internet on fire after sharing a series of images of herself pregnant in a hospital gown and Cassian soon after he was born.
Weighing in at a massive 5.8kg, Cassian was the largest baby born there in the past three years, according to local news station 4WSMV.
